The starting point
Night sailing almost no one offers it, and for good reasons reasons
Night outings practically do not exist in the island's tourist offer. It is no coincidence: sailing at night demands more from the skipper, complicates anchoring, requires extreme safety and does not fit with the model of three daily shifts of an excursion boat.
The result is that those who want to see the island illuminated from the water, or simply be in the middle of the sea under a clear sky, are left without options. And in Tenerife that is a specific shame: the island has one of the best skies in Europe and a southern coast that can be seen entirely from the sea at night.
It must also be said what it is not: from the water in front of the southern coast there are illuminated resorts nearby, so it is not the sky of Teide at 2,000 meters. But separating yourself a little, the difference with looking up from land is enormous.
The proposal
A private boat, a skipper who sails at night and three or four hours
The night boat tour in Tenerife is a private departure of three or four hours from Marina del Sur, normally starting at sunset and extending into the night. On board is your group and a skipper with experience in night navigation.
The route is along the south coast, which is the sheltered area of the island and where the sea is usually more manageable in the evening. You sail with the coast illuminated on one side, stop for a while with the engine off and turn back.
It is a plan that depends a lot on the day: the phase of the moon completely changes the experience. With a new moon you see many more stars; With a full moon there is more light on the water and sailing is different. Tell us what you prefer and we will tell you which dates fit.

Own fleet, not a marketplace. The boat you reserve is maintained, inspected and delivered by us. We do not put you in contact with an unknown owner and we move away.
The check-in is done by a sailor. Not an administrator with a signature sheet: someone who knows the anchorages of the island, the accelerations of the channels and at what time it is convenient to cross.
Support throughout the charter. Our technical team is available the days your rental lasts. If something arises on board, we will resolve it without you wasting the week.

Can you sail at night safely?
Yes, with a skipper with night experience and in the right conditions. That is exactly why we assign a specific pattern for these departures and that we do not do them just any day.
Navigating at night changes the visual reference and navigation criteria. With a professional on board it is perfectly safe; Improvising, no.
How long does the outing last?
Three or four hours. The usual thing is to go out at sunset and stay at night, because in winter the sun falls early and it is not necessary to stay up late to have a dark night.

Is it cold at night in winter?
Less than one expects, but refreshing. The air is around 20 °C during the day and drops a few degrees at night, and at sea you always notice something more.
Practical recommendation: an extra layer and something windproof. No serious coat, but not just a t-shirt either.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, with common sense. You navigate through the sheltered area of the island and with the boat stopped much of the time. There are life jackets on board and at night extreme precautions are taken on deck.
For groups with small children we recommend catamaran: wide, flat deck without heeling.
Do I need a nautical license?
No. The outing includes professional skipper included, in this case with specific experience in night navigation. You go as passengers on a private boat.
