Fishing excursions in Mallorca with experienced skipper
Sport fishing trips through the waters of Mallorca with a skipper who knows the fishing grounds. Coastal trolling, vertical jigging, bluefin tuna in crossing. Coordinable equipment and permits. Departures from La Lonja Marina (Palma).
A fishing excursion through Mallorca with ECC it's not the standard "get on the boat, they give you a rod, take a look" tourist fishing trip. It is an outing with a skipper who knows the fishing grounds, knows at what depth each species is looking, and proposes the mode according to the date, the weather and what you want to fish for. The difference between returning with a dorado in the fridge or spending the day without snacking is almost always in the skipper — not in the boat, not in the equipment, not in the destination.
We operate the departures in any of the sailboats either catamarans of the fleet — we coordinate the fishing equipment separately. For coastal trolling (the most sociable modality, also the best to combine with swimming in a cove), the half-day sailboat works perfectly. For vertical jigging in rocky areas or bluefin tuna when crossing to the south (Cabrera, Mallorca-Ibiza channel), a full day and a specialist skipper is advisable.
We manage the Balearic recreational fishing licenses for you (~€30/p, valid for 1 year). If you want to extend the experience to several days based in Cabrera or Cala Pi, we value the option. weekly. And if fishing is only part of the day and you also want a swim and aperitif in the cove, we will combine it with a sailboat ride normal.

What type of fishing can be done in Mallorca
Each modality requires a different boat, depth, time and technique. The skipper proposes according to date and weather. These are the six possibilities.
Coastal trolling
The sociable mode: you drag lures at 4-7 knots along the coastal strip. Species: dolphinfish (golden), bonito, small amberjacks. Compatible with swimming in intermediate cove. Ideal for mixed groups where not everyone is a fishermen.
vertical jigging
Technical fishing at 50-200 m on rock bottom. Species: large amberjack, dentex, grouper, conger eel. It requires a certain physical form (intense technique) and previous experience. Better by boat with a good echo sounder and a skipper who knows the fishing boats.
Bluefin tuna in voyage
Departure towards the south (Mallorca-Cabrera-Ibiza channel), looking for schools of tuna. Large species, only sporting modality (very regulated fee in the Balearic Islands - mandatory refund except for special fee). Full day or early night out.
Early morning departure
For many species, the first hours of dawn (06:00-08:00) are the most productive. Depart the port before dawn, fish in the fishing grounds while the sun rises, return around 12:00. Combine fishing with spectacular sunrise.
Managed permissions
We process the Balearic recreational fishing license (~€30/p, valid for 1 year) if you don't have it. It is mandatory to fish in Balearic waters. Fishing for some species (bluefin tuna) has a restricted annual quota that we also manage.
Knowledgeable skipper
The differential factor. Skippers with experience in sport fishing in the Balearic Islands: they know the fishing vessels, the seasons of each species, the techniques. The difference between returning with capture or without capture. Different from the standard walking pattern.
How much does a fishing trip cost?
Boat + skipper + fuel. Fishing equipment and licenses separate.
Including: use of the boat, skipper with fishing experience, safety equipment, fuel. Not included: fishing equipment (~€80/p if you don't bring), licenses (~€30/p), bait. Best season: May-October. Bluefin tuna: June-October. For specialized technical fishing, ask us for a specialist skipper.
What we get asked most about fishing excursions
What species can be fished in Mallorca?
Coast: dolphinfish (golden), bonito, small amberjacks, black horns, dentex, palometón. Rock bottom: large amberjack, grouper, dentex, conger eel. Deep water (channel): bluefin tuna, swordfish, large shrimp. The catchable species changes with the season: May-July coastal species dominate, August-October the tuna fishing grounds open.
Is a fishing license mandatory?
Yes. Recreational fishing in Balearic waters requires an individual license (each fisherman). Cost: ~€30/p, valid for 1 calendar year, we process it online for you if you don't have it. For some highly regulated species (bluefin tuna) there is an additional fee.
Do you have fishing equipment or should I bring it?
We coordinate equipment on board if you need it: rods, reels, lures, sinkers, hooks, bait (live or lure depending on the type). Approximate cost €80/p for a standard trolling outing. For technical jigging, more specialized equipment and separate price. If you bring your own, perfect — free of charge.
Which boat is best for a fishing trip?
For coastal trolling: any sailboat in the fleet. For vertical jigging: best sailboat with good echo sounder — the pattern tells you. For bluefin tuna on voyages or long outings: large boat with a large tank (Le Grand, Tefiti, Joulukka). The Lagoon 43 (motor catamaran) also works well for trolling because of the sustained speed.
How much does a full day fishing trip cost?
Full day (8h) with fisherman skipper and boat: from €1,450. For a group of 4-6 fishermen: €240-360/p. If you add equipment (~€80/p) and license (~€30/p), the total is around €350-€470/p. For small groups with a tight budget, the half-day (~€950) is the most balanced option.
What is the best time of year to fish in the Balearic Islands?
May to October in general. Coastal trolling: peak June-August. Vertical Jigging: Good all summer. Bluefin tuna: July-October (with sports quota opening on specific dates). Better to plan 3-4 weeks in advance so that the pattern adjusts technique to date.
Can it be combined with a cove bath?
Yes, especially inshore trolling. A typical half-day outing could be: 9:00-12:00 trolling, 12:00-1:30 p.m. anchoring in a cove (Cala Mago, Portals Vells) for swimming and aperitif, 1:30-2:00 p.m. return. If you want more serious fishing, better dedicated trips — and then a normal day of sailboat ride If you want to swim in cove.
