The starting point
The water sports in Tenerife are all done from the same beach
The offer is enormous and is all concentrated in three or four points on the coast: you rent the paddle on the shore, paddle for forty minutes among bathers, avoid the buoys and return the board. The kayak, the same. Snorkeling, the same but with less to see.
It's not that it's bad. The thing is that you are doing an open water activity in the most crowded place possible, and with a time limit that starts running as soon as you pay.
The good anchorages—clean water, without people, with a bottom worth looking at—are a short distance away by sea and completely out of reach if you go from the beach.
The proposal
The boat as a floating base, anchored where there is no nobody
A day of water sports by boat in Tenerife is a private outing with long anchorage on the south or southwest coast. The boat becomes your base: you jump into the water from the stern, come back on board whenever you want, eat, dry in the sun and repeat.
Several boats in the fleet carry snorkel and kayak included; the paddle surf is added as an extra (€150 per week). The water does not drop below 19–20 °C even in the middle of winter, so the plan works all twelve months.
And now what is not there, said from the outset: our boats are sailboats and cruising catamarans. We do not have jet skis, we do not tow and therefore there is no wakeboarding, water skiing or banana. If that is what you are looking for, there are operators on the island that do it and we will tell you without any problem.

Paddle surf (SUP)
It is added as an extra for €150 per week. Rowing from the anchored boat, without swimmers or buoys around, is a different experience than doing it from the shore of Los Cristianos.

Snorkeling
Several boats have equipment included. The bottoms of the south coast are volcanic—rock, caves, structure—and concentrate much more life than the sand. See snorkeling and diving.

Kayaking
Included on several ships in the fleet. Perfect for approaching the coast from the anchorage and entering where the boat cannot reach. Ask us what the specific unit has.

Just bathe
Catamarans have stern platforms that make it much easier to get in and out of the water. With the boat stopped and the water at 20 °C, half of the group does not go out all afternoon.

What there is not
Jet skis, wakeboarding, water skiing, banana or flyboard. A sailing boat or cruising catamaran does not tow. We prefer to say it here than on the pontoon.

The check-in is done by a sailor. Not an administrator with a signature sheet: someone who knows the island's anchorages, the accelerations of the channels and what time it is best to cross.

You confirm with 50%
50% blocks the reservation and the remaining 50% is paid four weeks before boarding. Until that first payment there is no commitment of any kind.

Check-in at Marina del Sur or Marina Santa Cruz with a briefing from a team navigator: the boat, the area, the part and the anchorages. No rush.

Water sports from a boat in Tenerife: frequently asked questions
Do you have jet skis or wakeboards?
No. Our fleet is sailboats and cruising catamarans: we don't have jet skis and we don't tow, so there is no wakeboarding, water skiing, banana boating or flyboarding.
What we do have is paddle surfing, snorkeling and kayaking from the boat at anchor. If you are looking for motor sports, there are specialized operators on the island and we will tell you without any problem.
What equipment is included?
Several boats carry snorkel and kayak included. The paddle surf is added as an extra, for €150 per week.
As it varies between units, ask us what the specific boat you are going to book has. And if you have your own material, bring it.
Is the water cold in winter?
It does not drop below 19–20 °C on the south coast practically all year round. With thin neoprene you are perfectly fine and without it you can last for a long time.
This is what makes this plan work in January, something that is possible in almost no other part of Europe.
Where do you anchor?
On the south and southwest coast: Palm-Mar, Playa Paraíso, the coast of Adeje. Clean water and a short distance from Marina del Sur.
The specific anchorage is decided by the skipper according to the wind component of the day, looking for the most sheltered and with the best bottom.
How long does the outing last?
For a day in the water we recommend long half a day or full day: between four and eight hours. Three hours gives you time to reach an anchorage and little else.

Is it suitable for children?
Yes, it is one of the plans that works best with them. You anchor in sheltered areas, the boat is stationary and there are life jackets on board.
With small children we recommend catamaran: it does not list and the stern platforms make access to the water much easier.
Do I need to know how to row or dive?
No. Paddle boarding in flat water at anchor takes five minutes, and snorkeling requires no training: it is surface.
To dive with a bottle you do need a qualification, and we do not do that: we are not a diving centre.
Do I need a nautical qualification?
No. The departure takes professional skipper included and you go as passengers on a private boat.
