The starting point
On excursions with food included, food is the first thing that goes wrong
Almost all day trips The island announces lunch on board. In practice it is usually a paella made for one hundred and fifty people, served on a plastic plate with the boat running and with shifts so that everyone can fit at the table.
And the bathing stop is in the same batch: exactly twenty minutes, everyone in the water at the same time and back on board because there is a return time.
What is wrong is not the price, which is usually fine. The thing is that eating and bathing are just the two things that need time, and they are the two that the massive format cannot provide.
The proposal

The boat ride with food in Tenerife is a full day from six to eight hours from Marina del Sur. You sail along the southwest coast, anchor in a sheltered place and really stop: food, bathing, snorkeling and a nap if you feel like it. Then it returns with the afternoon light.
You provide the food or we coordinate it. The boats have a full kitchen with oven, refrigerator, kitchenware and table for the entire group: they are cruise ships, not cruise boats. Bringing shopping and eating on board is what most people do and it is the most economical. And the boat is only for your group, with a professional skipper included. No one has to come back on board because a siren sounds.
The day
How to divide a full day

Morning: navigation
Depart Marina del Sur and head west along the coast. If there is a trade wind, under sail. On the way you cross the Teno-Rasca cetacean strip, so the dolphins usually appear without looking for them.

Midday: long anchorage
Palm-Mar, Playa Paraíso or the coast of Adeje, depending on the wind. The boat stops, the table is set and we eat without haste. This is the part that the massive format cannot replicate.

Afternoon: swimming and snorkeling
The water does not drop below 19–20 °C even in January. Several boats have snorkels and kayaks on board; the SUP is added as an extra. See snorkeling and diving.

Return in good light
The southwest coast faces west, so the return is done in the best light of the day. In winter the sun sets early and the day ends roundly without lengthening.

If you want more route
With a full day you also enter the Los Gigantes cliffs, about 25 miles away. That leaves less time for anchoring: it's one thing or another, and it's a good idea to decide beforehand.

The check-in is done by a sailor. Not an administrator with a signature sheet: someone who knows the anchorages of the island, the accelerations of the channels and at what time it is convenient to cross.

Is food included?
Not standard. The price is for the boat with skipper included, and the food is separate. You can bring it yourself - the most common and cheapest option - or ask us to coordinate catering.
We prefer to separate it: a mandatory closed menu makes the departure more expensive and limits those who have allergies, children or simply other desires.
Can cooking be done on board?
Yes. The boats have a kitchen with stove and oven, refrigerator, sink, kitchenware and table for the entire group. They are cruise ships designed to live on board for a week.
How long does the lunch stop last?
Whatever you want. This is the advantage of the private boat: there is no next shift waiting and no return time imposed beyond the total contracted duration.
The usual thing is two or three hours at anchor between food, bathing and snorkeling.
Where do you anchor?
On the south and southwest coast: Palm-Mar, Playa Paraíso, the coast of Adeje. They are anchorages with clean water a short distance from Marina del Sur.
The specific site is chosen by the skipper according to the wind component of the day, looking for the most sheltered.
How long does the complete outing last?
Between six and eight hours, which is what a day in the Canary Islands winter takes, assuming that it gets dark early. It usually leaves in the morning and returns in the mid-afternoon.

Can you see dolphins on the way?
Quite likely: the route to the west crosses the Teno-Rasca strip, with resident populations of pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins all year round.
It's not a guarantee — they are animals wild—but it is one of the most consistent areas that exist. See whale watching.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, and it is one of the plans that works best with them: the long anchorage, the swim and the boat stationary give a lot of margin. There are life jackets on board.
If there are small children we recommend catamaran: it does not list and the stern platforms make it very easy to get in and out of the water.
Do I need a nautical license?
No. The outing includes professional skipper included and you go as passengers on a private boat.
