Boat rental in Tenerife with or without skipper

At ECC Yacht the boat rental in Tenerife starts at €2,000/week for a 4-cabin Oceanis 43 sailboat and goes up to €5,500/week for the top-of-the-range Oceanis 51.1. The majority of the fleet moves between €2,400 and €4,000 per week.

To the boat rate you must add the mandatory costs—final cleaning from €190 to €240 depending on cabins and gas bottle €25—and, if you hire him, the professional skipper: €1,500/week on a sailboat or €1,800/week on catamaran, plus your meals on board. The rates for the two Lagoon catamarans for the Canary season are provided upon request.

Only if you want to take it yourself. To rent in the bareboat modality (without skipper) you need a valid nautical qualification – PER or international equivalent – and demonstrable experience, because our boats are sailboats and cruising catamarans, not light pleasure boats.

The weekly rate includes full use of the boat for seven nights, regulatory safety equipment, tableware and kitchenware, bedding and the departure technical briefing with one of our sailors.

Does not include fuel, mooring in the ports you visit during the charter, the final cleaning or the gas bottle. Neither does the pattern, which is optional. The deposit (€2,500–€3,000 depending on the boat) is given at check-in and is returned in full at the closing of the rental if the boat returns in good condition.

November to April, which is just when our fleet is on the islands. It is the window in which the trade winds ease, the air temperature remains between 20 and 23 °C and the water does not drop below 19 °C.

In July and August the wind in the Canary Islands blows much stronger, especially in the acceleration areas between islands, and navigation becomes more demanding and less attractive for a vacation charter. It is the opposite of what happens in the Balearic Islands, and that is why we move the fleet: from May to October we sail in Mallorca, from November to April in Tenerife.

From one of our two bases on the island, depending on the boat and the planned route. Marine del Sur, in Las Galletas (Arona), is the main base for the tourist charter: it is a quarter of an hour from the Tenerife South airport and is the natural exit towards Los Gigantes, La Gomera and the cetacean strip.

Marina Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the Los Llanos Commercial Dock, is the indicated base if you are going to cross to Gran Canaria or You arrive through the Tenerife North airport. The group also has a third base in Marina Rubicón, Playa Blanca (Lanzarote).

It depends on your qualification and your real experience sailing. Without a skipper (bareboat) you have total freedom and it is the most economical formula, but you assume the responsibility of navigation in an archipelago with acceleration channels and deep anchorages.

With a professional skipper on board you pay €1,500/week on a sailboat or €1,800/week on a catamaran, plus your meals. In return you don't need a license, you don't deal with the weather report and you gain someone who knows the island's anchorages. For a first week in the Canary Islands, it is the option we most recommend.

For groups of up to 8 people who want to really sail, a 12 to 14 meter sailboat—Sun Odyssey 410, Oceanis 43, Bavaria 45—is the most balanced choice in price and performance in crossing.

For families, groups with children or those who prioritize comfort at anchor, a catamaran Lagoon: it does not list, it has much more habitable surface and its shallow draft allows it to get closer to the coast. If you are looking for the high-end, the Jeanneau Yacht 54 and the Oceanis 51.1 are the premium boats in the fleet.

Yes, and it's one of the best reasons to rent here. San Sebastián de La Gomera is about 22–25 nautical miles from Las Galletas: a half-day crossing that easily fits into a day of sailing.

With a full week you can chain La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro, or cross the fifty-five miles to Gran Canaria. Crossings between islands must be planned with the report, because the channels are known acceleration zones, and that is exactly what we review with you in the departure briefing.

The fleet ranges from 6 to 11 seats. The smallest sailboat – the Jeanneau SO 380 – carries 6 people in 3 cabins; the mid-range ones, 8 people in 3 or 4 cabins; and the largest ones—Jeanneau Yacht 54, Oceanis 51.1, Sun Odyssey 490 and 519— sleep 10 or 11 in 5 cabins.

The Lagoon 43 and 46 catamarans accommodate 8 and 9 people in 4 cabins with 4 bathrooms, which is the most comfortable configuration when two or three families travel together. For day trips without an overnight stay, the capacity may be greater: consult us on the specific case.

Most likely, yes. The Teno-Rasca marine strip, off the southwest coast of Tenerife, is home to a resident population of pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins throughout the year, and is one of the most recognized whale watching areas in Europe.

Leaving Marina del Sur, you enter the area in just over an hour by boat. The regulations for approaching cetaceans must be respected: minimum distance, reduced speed and never cut off the group's path. If you sail with a skipper, he will ensure that the approach is done correctly.

The south is the charter area par excellence: more sheltered, with more hours of sun, more manageable sea and all the interesting anchorages within a short distance. It is where Marina del Sur is and where almost all the week-long routes depart.

The north and east of the island, based in Santa Cruz, have a sea much more exposed to the trade wind and fewer usable anchorages, but it is the correct side of the island if your plan is to cross to Gran Canaria. Our general recommendation for a vacation charter is leave the south.
