A dinner on a boat in Mallorca It is the most underutilized category of romantic or intimate dining on the island. We usually think of restaurants with ocean views — but the difference is enormous between see the sea and be in the sea. When you dine at anchor in a cove with the sun setting, the boat at your exclusive disposal, the skipper in the bow leaving you your space, the experience is of a different order. And the cost, surprisingly, is not disproportionate compared to a high-end restaurant for 4-6 people.

The most requested format is sunset-dinner (4-5h, 18:00-22:30 or similar): departure from the port, short navigation to a cove (Cala Mago, Portals Vells, Cala Pi), anchoring, sunset from the deck with aperitif, dinner on board, after-dinner meal with the moon and stars, return to the port. For special celebrations (anniversary, marriage proposal, special birthday), there is no better setting in Mallorca.

Just you and the skipper (who stays in the bow or upper deck). No table next to you listening, no waiters passing by every 5 minutes. The conversation is yours. For a marriage proposal, an important conversation or an intimate anniversary, there is no substitute.

The timing is designed so that the sunset coincides with the appetizer or first course. Mallorca has consistently good western sunsets from May to October. The difference between seeing it from a restaurant with a view and seeing it floating on the water is enormous.

The skipper runs the boat — anchor safely, manage the dinghy if you go ashore, keep everything in order. But he stays in his zone, he doesn't participate in your dinner. If you need something, you call him. If not, you won't even notice it.

How much does a boat dinner cost for a couple?

Small sailboat (Cotufa, Tizón) sunset-dinner, 4-5h with skipper: from €750. If you add a chef's dinner on board (~€90/p × 2 = €180), the total is around €930 for a couple. Expensive compared to a normal restaurant, but comparable or cheaper than a high-end restaurant with a tasting menu + wines in Mallorca — and with incomparable scenery.

Who organizes the catering?

Three options: (1) you bring dinner (gourmet sandwiches, cold cuts, wine, dessert — at no extra cost), (2) We coordinate light catering such as appetizers (~25-€55/p, pre-prepared, easy), (3) We hire a private chef who cooks on board with a tasting menu (from €90/p, up to €200/p in high-end). The chef goes out on the boat with you, cooks in the boat's kitchen, serves.

Which boat is best for dinner?

For couples or 2 couples: small-medium sailboat (Cotufa, Tomeu, Katalina) — intimate, secluded, romantic. For a group of 4-8 with a more elaborate dinner: Lagoon 43 catamaran or large sailboat (Joulukka, Tefiti) — space for a formal table on deck. For a premium event with chef and careful service: premium fleet yachts (Lagoon 46, Jeanneau Yacht 54).

In which cove do you usually have dinner?

The most used for dinner: Cala Mago (near Palma, quick departure after port, perfect sunset), Portals Vells (more intimate, rock walls), Cala Pi (further south, requires earlier departure). For maximum sunset, west-southwest side of Mallorca. The skipper proposes according to the weather of the day and your preference.

How long does it usually last?

Standard format: 4-5h. For example: 18:00 departure from port → 19:00 anchorage in cove with aperitif and sunset → 20:00-22:00 dinner → 22:00-22:30 after dinner with moon → 22:30 return to port. Is it a good romantic plan for a couple?

Do you coordinate marriage proposals?

Yes, with discretion. Coordinates: bouquet of flowers hidden on board, message "Will you marry me?" on visible deck when anchoring, timing moment (ring in the dessert), specific music at sunset, discreet photographer who goes out with you. The boss is aware and maintains total reserve. Give 1-2 weeks notice to prepare well.
