Diving and snorkeling excursions in Mallorca crystal clear waters
Day trips from your own boat for snorkeling and diving in the best coves in Mallorca: rock walls, crystal clear water, stops at spots that are not crowded in August. Snorkeling equipment on board, coordinatable bottle diving.
He snorkeling from boat In Mallorca it is a different experience than snorkeling from the beach. When you arrive at a cove like Cala Marmols or Cala Pi by sea, you anchor, jump into the water from the hull and swim directly to the rock walls — visibility of 15-20 m, rock fish (bream, salps, mojarras, occasionally grouper), posidonia meadows. What you see in 30 minutes of snorkeling there surpasses a whole day on the most famous beach.
We operate the departures in any of the 15 ships in the fleet. For passive snorkeling (family, non-technical), a standard sailboat works perfectly. For large groups that want a full day with several spots, the catamaran gives more space on deck and comfortable bathing platform. We carry standard size masks and snorkels on board — if you have your own equipment, even better.
For scuba diving, we coordinate with dive centers in Palma and Andratx. Certified divers (Open Water minimum) go out with you on the boat and do the dives in well-known spots: Sa Dragonera, Cabo Blanco, walls of Cabrera. If you want to mix up the day (snorkeling for part of the group, diving for another part), that works too. To extend the day with lunch on board, see boat ride with food or combine with other water sports.

Why snorkel from a boat vs from the beach
The difference is brutal — especially for the spots with the best visibility in Mallorca, which are physically in areas without convenient land access.
Coves with rock walls
The best snorkeling spots in Mallorca are small coves with vertical rock walls (Cala Marmols, Cala Pi, Sa Dragonera). Marine life is there — not on sandy tourist beaches. You arrive by boat and anchor 20 m from the cliff.
Without sharing with public
The coves accessible only by sea have 80% less crowding than any beach with a car. You snorkel with a clear view, without swimmers splashing around. The difference in August is enormous.
The ship as a base
You get out of the water, rest on deck, eat something, get back in the water. There is no need to go to umbrellas, restaurants with queues or full parking lots. The day is managed from the boat — more relaxed and efficient.
Pattern controls zone
The skipper knows which coves have the best visibility according to date, wind and wave direction. You don't go blind — propose the optimal spot of the day. If one cove is cloudy, go to another.
Diving with dive center
For bottle diving, we coordinate a dive center that leaves on our boat. Certified divers (Open Water min.) do the dives, the rest of the group snorkel on the surface. Sa Dragonera is the star spot.
Several spots in one day
Full day (8h) allows 2-3 different spots. For example: morning at Portals Vells (gentle snorkelling), lunch on board, afternoon at Sa Dragonera (deep walls, best marine life). Something impossible if you go by car.
How much does a diving or snorkeling excursion cost?
Boat + skipper + fuel + basic snorkeling equipment. Dive with separate bottle (via dive center).
Including: use of the boat, professional skipper, basic snorkeling equipment (masks and tubes), fuel. Not included: bottle + dive center (~80-€110/p), lunch (you can bring or we coordinate catering ~25-€55/p), wetsuit. Best season: May-October. Maximum visibility in September and October.
What we get asked most about snorkeling and diving
What are the best coves for snorkeling in Mallorca?
For snorkeling from a boat: Sa Dragonera (deep walls, better marine life), Cala Marmols (remote cove, crystal clear water), Cala Pi (cliff walls, rock fish), Portals Vells (easier for beginners), The Bull (comfortable and good). For something more extreme, cross to Cabrera (National Park, permit required, manageable).
Does ECC organize scuba diving?
Yes, we coordinate it via dive centers in Palma and Andratx. A certified instructor/diver comes out on our boat with the tanks and necessary equipment. Certified divers (Open Water minimum) do 1-2 dives, while the rest of the group snorkels or rests on deck. All managed by us.
Do you need a qualification to dive?
For bottle immersion: Yeah, minimum Open Water (PADI or equivalent). For snorkeling: no, no qualifications necessary — knowing how to swim reasonably is enough. If you want to start diving from scratch (baptism), we also coordinate it: 1-dive sea baptism guided by an instructor from the boat.
What equipment is included?
On board: standard size masks and snorkel tubes (S, M, L), basic fins, swimming ladder, aft swimming platform. No Included: neoprene suit (in May and October the water can be cool, shorts recommended), prescription glasses, technical diving equipment. If you have your own equipment, great — feeling your own mask is better.
How long does a snorkeling trip last?
Usually full day (8h) It allows 2-3 different spots with breaks on the deck. Half day (5h) enough for 1 good spot with comfortable snorkeling time and return. For serious diving groups (2 dives + snorkel), full day always. For a family with small children, half a day works well.
What is the best time of year?
June to October. Better visibility in September and October (15-25 m), still warm water (22-24°C). May and June: cooler water (19-22°C), short wetsuit recommended. July-August: very comfortable temperature, but more overcrowded even in remote spots.
Which boat is best for a snorkeling trip?
For a group of 4-6 (family or couple with children): small or medium sailboat (Cotufa, Tomeu, Katalina) — perfect. For a large group (8-12 people) or family with several children: Lagoon 43 or 46 catamaran — more space on deck, comfortable bathing platform, wide ladder. For snorkeling + lunch + sunset, best full day on a large sailboat.
