He night boat trip It's a category apart. It's not the same as a sunset cruise (which ends when the sun goes down) or a dinner cruise (which focuses on the anchored cove). Here, what matters is the weather on the water after darkSailing under the moon, seeing the city lights from the sea, listening to the water against the hull with no background noise, feeling the gentle breeze blow off the coast after the day's heat. A unique experience—and one that's largely untapped in Mallorca.

The typical format: departure from port at sunset (~7:00-8:00 PM depending on the season), short sail, sunset from the sea, anchoring or slow sailing under the first stars, return to port at 11:00-11:30 PM. Total: 4-5 hours. If you would like to include a gourmet dinner on board, we can coordinate the catering just like we do with the dinner on a boat — everything can be combined. For a more intimate version, look Romantic boat trip.

The departures are led by patrons with specific experience in night navigation. Entering and exiting Palma's port at night requires knowledge of lights and buoys—it's not standard passenger navigation. The season runs from May to October, with full moon nights being particularly recommended (check the lunar calendar for your date; we charge a supplement of +10% for full moon nights). If there's a fireworks display at La Lonja or the port (San Sebastián, local festivals), we offer a special trip to watch them from the sea—please contact us.

The fleet

The 15 boats for a night out

Sailboats and catamarans at La Lonja Marina, Palma. For an intimate evening, a small sailboat with sails. For a large group with dinner, a catamaran or large sailboat with a spacious deck.

Why at night?

What a night out has that a daytime outing doesn't.

If you've already taken a daytime boat trip, a nighttime one will give you a different experience — more intimate, more contemplative, with its own magic.

🌝

The moon over the water

The reflection of the full moon on the sea in Mallorca is one of the island's most underrated visual spectacles. It occurs 13 times a year for 1-2 nights. If your date falls near a full moon, seriously consider it—it's worth the +10% supplement.

Stars without light pollution

One to two miles offshore, far from the lights of Palma, the night sky in Mallorca still offers a reasonable view of the stars. If sunrise coincides with a new or quarter moon, the stars take center stage. Bring an astronomy app to enhance the experience.

🌊

calmer sea

The thermal winds of the day (which blow from the land towards the sea and then reverse direction in the afternoon) usually subside at nightfall. The sea at night in Mallorca during the summer tends to be calmer—the water almost like a mirror, the sailing silent, and there's a feeling of weightlessness.

🌃

Lights of Palma from the sea

One of the most beautiful sights in Mallorca: the lights of Palma seen from the sea as you return to the port. The illuminated cathedral, the seafront promenade, the port's lighthouses. If you climb Bellver Tower during the day and a sailboat at night, you'll have seen Palma from its two best angles.

👨‍✈️

Patron with night experience

Sailing out of Palma's port at night requires knowledge of lights and navigational aids—it's not standard passenger navigation. We assign skippers with specific nighttime experience, knowledge of the port, and expertise in using nighttime navigation instruments.

🍽️

Dinner or long after-dinner conversation

This can be combined with dinner on board (~€55-90/person) or a carefully curated aperitif (~€25/person). Alternatively, you can have dinner ashore beforehand, followed by an evening cruise with drinks on deck. The format is flexible—there's no rush on the evening cruise.

Preguntas frecuentes

The most frequently asked questions about nighttime walks

Is it safe to sail at night?

Yes, absolutely. We only sail with skippers who are certified for night navigation and have proven experience at La Lonja Marina. The boats are equipped with standard navigation lights, GPS, chartplotter, and VHF radio. Night navigation in familiar waters and with good weather is perfectly safe—we don't sail if the weather forecast says otherwise.

How long does a night out last?

4-5 hours This is the standard format. For example, in July: departure 7:30 pm → sunset 9:15 pm from the sea → leisurely cruise 10:00-11:00 pm → return to port 11:30 pm. In September, sunset is at 8:00 pm — we adjust the departure time. If you'd like to extend your stay (long after-dinner drinks, refreshments in port), this can be arranged for an additional fee.

What are the best nights of the month?

Those close to a full moon (1-2 nights before and after). The reflection on the sea is spectacular, the light makes sailing more comfortable, and photos turn out well without flash. If your date is flexible, check the lunar calendar and choose a night near a full moon. There's a supplement of +10% on a strict full moon, but for many, it's clearly feasible.

Is it cold at night at sea?

In July and August, it's almost never cold—temperatures stay around 24-26°C even at midnight. In May, early June, and October, it can drop to 18-20°C on the water, a gentle land breeze blows, and a light sweater or sarong is welcome. It's advisable to bring a light jacket or sweatshirt just in case.

Is it a good plan for couples or for groups?

For both things, but the natural format is couples or small groups (4-6 people) — The nighttime setting is conducive to conversation, intimacy, and contemplation. For large groups looking for music and a party, it's best to look at boat party in daytime or sunset format. For couples' celebrations (anniversary, special birthday), the nighttime option is perfect.

Is a degree required?

Not for the client — all trips include a professional skipper (the skipper provides the specific night boating certification, not you). You are passengers without liability. If you have a night boating certification and would like to rent a bareboat for a night trip, we consider specific cases with a nautical CV — but by default, night trips include a skipper.

Can it be combined with a formal dinner?

Yes, absolutely. Two formats: (1) Dinner on board during departure (we coordinate catering: aperitif ~€25/p, light dinner ~€55/p, premium chef from €90/p), (2) Dinner at a restaurant on land beforehand (around 9:00 PM) followed by a night out for drinks and after-dinner drinks on deck (10:30 PM - 12:30 AM). The second option is popular if you want dinner at a specific restaurant in Palma.
