He snorkeling from a boat In Mallorca, snorkeling is a completely different experience than snorkeling from the beach. When you arrive at a cove like Cala Marmols or Cala Pi by sea, you anchor, jump into the water from the hull, and swim directly to the rock walls—visibility of 15-20 meters, rockfish (sea bream, salema porgy, gilthead bream, occasionally groupers), and Posidonia seagrass meadows. What you see in 30 minutes of snorkeling there surpasses a whole day at the most famous beach.

We operate departures in any of the 15 ships in the fleet. For passive snorkeling (family, non-technical), a standard sailboat It works perfectly. For large groups who want a full day with several spots, the catamaran It offers more deck space and a comfortable swim platform. We carry standard-sized masks and snorkels on board—if you have your own equipment, even better.

For scuba diving, We coordinate with dive centers in Palma and Andratx. Certified divers (Open Water minimum) will join you on the boat and dive at well-known spots: Sa Dragonera, Cabo Blanco, and the walls of Cabrera. If you'd like to mix things up (snorkeling for part of the group, diving for another), that works too. To extend the day with lunch on board, see... boat trip with lunch or combine with other water sports.

The 15 boats for snorkeling and diving excursions

Lagoon sailboats and catamarans at La Lonja Marina, Palma. Sailboats for small groups, catamarans for families or large groups. All with swim platforms and ladders for easy access to the water.

Why from a boat?

Why snorkel from a boat vs from the beach

The difference is brutal — especially for the best visibility spots in Mallorca, which are physically in areas without easy land access.

🪨

Coves with rock walls

The best snorkeling spots in Mallorca are small coves with vertical rock walls (Cala Marmols, Cala Pi, Sa Dragonera). That's where the marine life is—not on the touristy sandy beaches. You arrive by boat and anchor 20 meters from the cliff.

🚫

Without sharing with the public

The coves accessible only by sea are significantly less crowded than any beach accessible by car. You can snorkel with unobstructed views, without swimmers splashing around. The difference in August is enormous.

🛥️

The ship as a base

You get out of the water, relax on deck, have a bite to eat, and get back in the water. No need to go to umbrellas, wait in line at restaurants, or deal with crowded parking lots. The day is managed from the boat—more relaxed and efficient.

👨‍✈️

Boss controls area

The skipper knows which coves have the best visibility based on the date, wind, and swell direction. You're not going in blind—he suggests the optimal spot for the day. If one cove is murky, he goes to another.

🤿

Diving with a dive center

For scuba diving, we coordinate dive centers that depart from our boat. Certified divers (Open Water minimum) lead the dives, while the rest of the group snorkel. Sa Dragonera is the star dive site.

🗺️

Several spots in one day

A full day (8 hours) allows you to visit 2-3 different spots. For example: morning at Portals Vells (gentle snorkeling), lunch on board, afternoon at Sa Dragonera (deep walls, better marine life). Something impossible if you go by car.

The most frequently asked questions about snorkeling and diving

What are the best coves for snorkeling in Mallorca?

For snorkeling from a boat: Sa Dragonera (deep walls, better marine life), Marmols Cove (remote cove, crystal clear water), Cala Pi (cliff walls, rockfish), Old Portals (easier for beginners), The Bull (comfortable and good). For something more extreme, cross to Cabrera (National Park, requires a permit, manageable).

Does ECC organize scuba diving?

Yes, we coordinate it through dive centers in Palma and Andratx. A certified instructor/divers sets out on our boat with the tanks and necessary equipment. The certified divers (Open Water minimum) do 1-2 dives, while the rest of the group snorkels or relaxes on deck. Everything is managed by us.

Do you need a certification to dive?

For scuba diving: Yeah, Minimum Open Water certification (PADI or equivalent). For snorkeling: no certification required—being able to swim reasonably well is sufficient. If you want to start scuba diving from scratch (introductory dive), we can also arrange that: a guided introductory dive with an instructor from the boat.

What equipment is included?

On board: standard size masks and snorkels (S, M, L), basic fins, swim ladder, swim platform at the stern. No Included: wetsuit (in May and October the water can be chilly, a shorty wetsuit is recommended), prescription goggles, and technical diving equipment. If you have your own equipment, perfect—it feels better to use your own mask.

How long does a snorkeling trip last?

Usually full day (8h) It allows 2-3 different spots with breaks on deck. Half day (5h) Enough for one good dive site with ample time for snorkeling and a return trip. For serious diving groups (2 dives + snorkeling), a full day is always recommended. For families with young children, a half day works well.

What is the best time of year?

June to October. Improved visibility in September and October (15-25 m), still warm water (22-24°C). May and June: cooler water (19-22°C), short wetsuit recommended. July-August: very comfortable temperature, but more crowded even in remote spots.

Which boat is best for a snorkeling trip?

For groups of 4-6 (family or couple with children): a small or medium-sized sailboat (Cotufa, Tomeu, Katalina) is perfect. For large groups (8-12 people) or families with several children: a Lagoon 43 or 46 catamaran is ideal—more deck space, a comfortable swim platform, and a wide ladder. For snorkeling, lunch, and sunset, a full day on a large sailboat is best.
