Order and stowage

- Boats are small and if we all leave our things lying around, space is very limited. Before sailing, make sure that all lockers are locked.

Check that there are no lines in the water.

- Before manoeuvring, check for lines in the water, as these could block the propeller and leave you without an engine, as well as causing a waterway.

Defences and lines

- If you are not going to be in port for a few days, it is best to store them in a locker with all mooring lines on deck.

Hatches

- Close all hatches tightly before sailing, as ropes can get caught in the hatches and break them.
